We are glad to announce that Mike Pears will continue as director of IBTS Amsterdam. Following a 5-year review, the Board of Trustees of IBTS extended the contract of Mike Pears for a further 18 months. “We are celebrating the work Mike Pears has done for the last five years, because he pushed IBTS forward with many lasting achievements – the branding process with our new claim 'IBTS empowers scholars and leaders in the church for the world', the new Learning Network, networking and fundraising, cooperation with the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and its Chair of Christian Social Ethics, and much more” says Michael Rohde, Chair of the Board. Therefore in 2024 we will celebrate 75 years of IBTS with Mike Pears, the staff team and our partners in Europe and abroad as a European Baptist Family.
Meanwhile we are looking forward to a time of transition, searching for a new director. If possible, we want to organise an overlap of 3 months with Mike Pears, so that the leadership can be handed over carefully and successfully. Michael Rohde also states “we ask all our partners, students, alumni and friends to pray for the current work and for the time of transition next year, that God keeps on blessing us with gifted staff members and appointment of a new director, who can work interculturally for the sake of God´s kingdom”.
