IBTS

Vision of IBTS

To serve the European Baptist Federation and wider Baptist community as a theological research community and training network. Committed to academic excellence in research, disseminating knowledge and facilitating learning for the benefit of churches, individuals and ministries in their local context.

Why international?

Learning with people from other cultures opens our eyes to realities that are otherwise impossible to see. It deepens understanding of God, of others and of ourselves in ways that are transformative.

Why do researchers and practitioners collaborate?

For cutting-edge research to be impactful and relevant it needs to connect with the everyday practices of the church as it ministers in wider society. For mission to remain faithful and transformative in our rapidly changing world, practitioners need the resourcing of high-quality research. At IBTS research and learning are energised as practitioners and researchers collaborate.

How can training be transformational?

Transformation happens when people are part of a leaning group that connects them deeply with the things that really matter in their own places and with what God is doing there. This kind of learning has been likened to a journey of conversion; it grows from a new self-awareness and it enables a re-imagination of God’s mission in the world.
