Cross-cultural Mission

This course will be facilitated in English with simultaneous Ukrainian translation, with some printed materials in English.

The movement of peoples across the world, either from economic migration or forced displacement, continues to change the landscape of ministry and mission across Europe. This stirring up of culture brings challenges and opportunities to local leaders in churches and leaders among displaced peoples as they engage in their diverse communities. Further, the reality of war in our region has changed our priorities and paradigms of mission and ministry. As the world and culture changes and we face increasingly difficult challenges, does God’s mission change?

Drawing from educational frameworks of culture and mission and reflecting on Biblical examples, this course aims to debrief the influence of culture and displacement on ministry and mission. Participants will reflect on their own understanding of culture and mission, map the cultural and mission landscape of their contexts, and discover how God is at work in new and surprising ways in cross-cultural contexts. The course will pay particular attention to the lived experiences and challenges of displaced peoples. Participants will leave with deepened cross-cultural skills to effectively engage in the challenges and opportunities of  ministry and mission in their contexts.
